| Pemnberton Mall,owned by CBL Associates has been having closed businessed issues lately. Just last year over eleven businesses closed in the mall alone. What hurts it is this: high rent. And not enough high quality retailors. The mall was constructed in 1985. The most recent closing was the Pemberton 4 Cinema. What caused it to close? Real simple--the high cost of rent which has been killing some business and CBL asking retailers for profits. But the closing of the cinema at christmas time was real stupid and insensitive on CBL's part. Also security at the mall is lax and since the cinema has closed crime has risen. The Malls in Jackson MS, Monroe,La are much better in retail and have more choices for the customer. Pemnberton lacks such high end animenites. |
