Valley Fair Mall in San Jose

Discover Malls was in the bay area this weekend doing some shopping. We had a chance to visit the Valley Fair Mall in San Jose California. We liked the mall. It has lots of shopping and something for everyone in the family.

We felt that most of the stores in the mall were geared to the female shopper and lacked something for the guys. If does have some of the regular stores for the skate / surf kids but they don't have much in the older more sophisticated men's department. That may be an idea if you are looking to franchise something. Most of the crowd here seemed to be rich, international tourists.

The food court was a bit small for our taste. We showed up to the mall in the middle of the week in the afternoon and it was packed.

Overall the Valley Fair Mall is a great mall with some nice upscale shopping. Please tell us what you think about the mall.

Desert Sky Mall Changes

A couple years ago the Desert Sky Mall was in trouble. Planning a mall can be very difficult in a grow area. Phoenix Arizona is no expectation. The Desert Sky Mall is one of the first malls outside of California to have a dominate Spanish influence. If you are visiting the mall the majority of workers will be Spanish speaking, salsa with popcorn, and lots of Hispanic advertising. Sales at the mall have increased 15 percent a year since 2004. This information about this blog was found HERE.

Please tell us all about the Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix. We have not had a chance to visit yet and would love to hear what it's like from you!

Cruise Line Shopping Malls

We don't have any shopping mall reviews for any of the major cruise lines. We were thinking it would be fun to have though. There are some very nice and large shopping malls on these cruise liners. If you have anything to tell us about the malls on the ships we would really appreciate it! We are curious if there is a difference between the cruise line and the level of shopping. Tell us what you think and we will add the appropriate pages.

Mall reviews are a bit slower than expected right now. We are sorry if you go to a mall page and it's blank! That should slowly change as Discover Malls gains popularity.

If you have a few minutes please find your favorite mall and tell us a little bit about it.

Thanks for your help building Discover Malls!

Beverly Center

The Beverly Center Mall is the shopping mall for tourist to go to see the stars. The mall was used in the Woody Allen movie scenes from a mall. If you are in L.A. and are looking for the stars, don't buy a worthless map to the starts houses, go to where the starts shop.

The Beverly Center is not the biggest mall in L.A. but it defiantly hold its own. It is also very close to the Beverly Hills and Hollywood so it attracts tons Hollywood types. If you hang out here long enough we almost guarantee seeing a star. Our advice is look for the paparazzi. They will lead you to the stars. Have fun at the Beverly Center Mall!

Don't forget to send us a review for the Beverly Center. Tell us your star stories.

Shopping Center Mall

Everyone has a favorite shopping center mall. Your mall of choice may change over the years as new mall spring up and old malls die (and the malls you wish you would die). There are some really fun online resources you can use to find and read about shopping malls.

Wikipedia

If you have never been to Wikipedia then you need to go and have a look. It’s an online encyclopedia that anyone can use and edit. It is in many languages. You can submit your own articles to Wikipedia, but beware anyone can edit your page. Anyway, you can look up any city which may have an article done about your local shopping center mall. Check it out and have fun.

Dead Malls

This is a really fun website that discusses past of the past, present, and future. They have a blog that chronicles some of their travels (rarely updated). If you want to take a trip to the past visit dead malls and see what has happened to the mall from your hometown.

Discover Malls

Discover Malls is a shopping center mall review website. We began summer 2006. Our goal is to provide a relevant ratings site about shopping malls. There are sites that have some of the information that we will be providing, like yahoo and trip advisor, but we were sick of not knowing where to shop when we traveled. Going to the wrong mall can be a depressing experience. We hate driving out of our way only to find the local mall is a dump.

Please find mall that interest you that you have visited and send us a review. All our reviews are organic. Nothing is solicited so you can be sure that the information is real. Thanks for looking! Lets get out and shop!

Provo malls

Looking for shopping in Utah's happy valley can be a fun experience. Provo and Orem have 3 main shopping malls. The University Mall Orem, Provo Town Center, and the Shops at the Riverwoods. Let's run through the goods and the bads about each mall.

University Mall Orem
This is our favorite mall in the area. The bad thing about the mall is its strange layout. It's basically broken down into two main wings. If you are at the far end of a wing, getting to the other side requires walking across the parking lot or the entire length of the mall's wings. This drawback is minor. It has all the chain stores you need. The mall is also full of great restaurants. The area around the mall is growing and bringing a great crowd to the mall. It's got a nice new feeling to it.

Provo Town Center
The Provo Town Center looks like a wonderful mall at first glance. Don't get us wrong, the mall has a lot to offer. It's a very family orientated mall with a great food court, movie theater, kiddy rides, and some nice stores. It does have a couple of younger, punk kids lurking in the mall due to the some low income neighborhoods directly adjacent to the mall. The movies here are usually packed on the weekend because it's the closest theater for the BYU population. It has a couple of stores but overall not lots of good shopping going on.

The Shops at the Riverwoods
It's a beautiful area. There are million dollar homes and some of Provo's biggest businesses in the area. As far as shopping goes it's low on the totem pole. It's an open air shop that has parking in front of each store. You can drive up to each store which makes for convenient shopping. It has some wonderful restaurants including our personal favorite The Happy Sumo. The lighting here can make for a very romantic Provo date. Nice place to visit and shop around, but serious shopper will need to go somewhere else.

Have fun and post any comment about these malls as you go and visit them. Don't forget to check out what other people are saying about them.

King of Prussia Mall

The King of Prussia mall is one of the best malls in the United State. It's the second biggest mall in America. The most unique thing about the mall is that many stores have 2 or even 3 locations. You don't need to walk all the way across the mall to find the stores you want. There are also 3 food courts. If you are in Philadelphia this summer please check the mall out and tell us what you think. Submit a review for the King of Prussia mall.

Katy Mills Mall

If you are in Houston this summer make sure you visit the Katy Mills Mall. It has a great blend of shopping and variety. The mall has some really fun restaurants, for example Johnny Rockets, that cater to the mix of shoppers visiting the Katy Mills Mall. The best thing about the mall are the many deals that can be found in every store. After all most of the shops are outlets. We highly recommend a visit!

Pierremont Mall

Thanks to all who have been visiting the site and telling us about their local malls! We are so excited to hear about malls off the beaten trail. We just received a review about the Pierremont mall in Shreveport Louisiana. It's a small enclosed mall that you would easily miss unless you had an insiders peek. If you in the area take a look. It's one of Shreveport oldest malls.

Ready to Shop and Blog!

Discover Malls is still in its infant stage, but we are climbing the ranks quickly. The site is complete, even though we may be missing some malls, and ready to start receiving reviews. Our marketing team is hard at work promoting the site and we have hired a full time blogger. Shopping will never be the same. : ) Please find your favorite mall and send us a review.
